The Italians Franz & Shape are Francesco Spazzoli and Chris Shape releasing on Headman’s label Relish Recordings. Their live performance is characterised by a unique slamming electro touch with synths and samplers, the crowded dancefloor is their habitat! That’s why in 2005 their first track, ‘Countach’ was included in the lucky ‘Italian EP’, published by Relish and this is why it is also featured in some exciting CD mixes, such as 2 Many DJ’s “50,000,000 Soulwax Fans Can’t Be Wrong”, “Misch Masch” by Freeform Five and Mixmag 2006 mixed by Soulwax. A few months on and the ‘Destination/Location EP’ and the ‘Maximum Joy’ singles were both released, again on Relish. Their first CD album ‘Acceleration’ hasbeen released at the beginning of the year, and it’s as always rich of collaborations: David Carretta (Gigolo/Space Factory), Chelonis R. Jones, Mount Sims, Dirk Da Davo (The Neon Judgement), Ian Clark (Perspects), GD Luxxe and Tomas Barfod aka Tomboy. And after getting a great remix treatment by Backyard’s wonderkid Tronik Youth, the 2 hot Aussies Bennie and Joel of Riot In Belgium and new electro superstar Kissy Sell Out, they are now back on Relish with a brand new 12″ called ‘Eyes like knives/ Forgotten Days’ with collaborations of the American band Kill Memory Crash for the vocals and remixes by Turbo’s nu-rave genius D.I.M., Bryan Black and Mr. No of Motor and Memory Boy a.k.a. DJ and producer John Selway. It’s another shot beyond the dark for our italian meastros and a new and epic chapter of a musical journey they just started to write for our listening pleasure.
